To Our LGBTQ+ Family

We are profoundly saddened to learn of yet another act of violence, this time against our friends in the LGBTQ+ community. As of this writing, we don’t yet know the motive behind this horrific attack, but oftentimes in these cases it’s pure prejudice. It’s the belief that one group is losing at the expense of another, or the belief that one group is violating the moral codes of another.

Human history has been a long, slow arc of granting rights and dignity to each other in an effort to live in greater harmony and acceptance. We are still on this arc, where we will remain until all beings are free to exist in peace and love who they love.

A Course in Miracles takes this basic picture of the human condition and expands it to include divine worth. From a Course perspective, we are not only granting each other rights and dignity, we are granting each other divine worth.

Everyone – without exception – is God’s child. We can forget this as our true identity, but we can never lose it no matter what we do.

To those affected in Colorado Springs and to the transgender community at large: We are so very sorry for your pain and your loss. We see your beautiful light, we are holding you in love and healing always, and we promise to do all we can to make the world safer for you.
