What Does the Holy Spirit Do? Summary of a Class Presentation

Here is a quick summary of the points I covered in yesterday’s class.

What does He do?
• He plans a basic strategy (forgiveness) to get us home, along with all the events of our lives, along with our preferred response to those events
• He teaches. His primary job is to educate our minds, to teach us what’s real and what’s not, so we can see what is real, rather than seeing what’s not.
• He guides our thoughts and behavior.
• He heals. When we choose a new perception or belief, He completes the process by cleansing our mind of the old and putting in place the new.
• He reveals reality to us, in holy instants and experiences of revelation (oneness with God).
• He supplies our needed material possessions.
• He protects our body and ego.
• He rearranges time and space to adjust to the miracles we do.

His main role is an educator of perception. So His role is aimed at a change of mind, but as any good teacher knows, students learn best under the right learning conditions, which includes appropriate classrooms and learning aids.

How do we call on Him?
• By actively calling on Him
• By joining with others.
• By giving to others.
• By acknowledging that we don’t know the meaning of what we see.
• By choosing a different meaning (i.e., Workbook practice)

He is the Voice of truth, so that any time we invite or leave an opening for truth, we have invited Him.

In what ways can we see Him at work?
• In coincidences
• In events and situations that have been clearly arranged
• In internal guidance
• In spiritual experiences
• In inspired thoughts
• In shifts in our perception
• In impulses that come from Him

The Holy Spirit is at work all the time, inside us and outside us; not just in certain special occurrences. In the same way, we call on Him in a great variety of ways, not just through formally appealing to Him.
