This is a guided meditation from our 2008 Workbook recordings. Many thanks to Mary Anne Buchowski of Course Oasis in Ottawa, Canada for transcribing this.
Begin by repeating to yourself,
I am not a body. I am free….
For I am still as God created me….
Then repeat the idea for the day,
I bless the world because I bless myself….
Slowly repeat the additional ideas once through:
God’s blessing shines upon me from within my heart, where He abides….
I need but turn to him, and every sorrow melts away,…<
as I accept His boundless Love for me.…
Now, let’s take a journey in our minds, in which we turn our attention away from the things of the world and toward God’s presence in our hearts.
Take a moment to think about where your attention is normally placed—
on events, on situations, on bodies and personalities….
In that place, isn’t there sorrow?
Doesn’t sorrow come from what happens in those events and situations, from what those bodies and personalities say and do?…
And in that sorrow, isn’t there a sense of being unloved?…
As we place our attention on a loveless world, we feel the sorrow of being unloved ourselves.
Now, have a sense of drawing your attention inward.
Feel it move away from the sorrow-producing things of the world.
Feel it drawing inward….
Now, your attention is on your mind, and it continues to move further inward….
Feel your attention moving now to the very heart of your being, to the very center of who you are….
Say to yourself,
God’s blessing shines upon me from within my heart, where He abides.
Simply fix your gaze on that shining heart in you, and realize that the shining is God’s blessing. It’s not an impersonal light; it’s the light of His blessing on you.
Keep your gaze on that shining heart, and realize that the shining is really His Love for you.
That heart, then, is like an internal sun, radiating its warmth and its life-giving love.
In that shining, try to feel God’s Love for you….
He’s giving you what all the things of the world failed to give.
It’s not just love; it’s boundless love—for you, personally.
Try not to block that out and tell yourself that it can’t be.
Try instead, now that you’ve turned toward it, to accept His boundless Love for you….
Let Him love you the way He wants;
for this is the kind of love you’ve always wanted.
All of us want to be loved this deeply… this boundlessly….
Now that you have let it in, realize that this is what you were looking for out there—in those events and situations, in those bodies and personalities—and now you’ve found it.
It doesn’t matter that you didn’t find this love before; you’ve found it now.
Therefore, let all your sorrows melt away….
The sorrow didn’t really come from those things out there.
It came from your act of turning to them, of turning away from God in your heart.
So let all the sorrows melt away as you at last have found the one thing you were always looking for.
Now, keep your gaze fixed away from the world and on that shining heart of love within you….
Keep your gaze on that shining love as steadily as you can.
Let that shining love as far into you as you can.
Whenever your gaze wanders back to some sorrow-producing thing of the world,
just repeat to yourself,
God’s blessing shines upon me from within my heart, where He abides,
as a way of drawing your mind back to focus.
